WORKSHOPS & IN-SERVICES DESCRIPTIONS

ADHD

Students are being diagnosed with ADD/ADHD with greater frequency today. How should a school district respond when presented with a student with ADHD? Is it possible for a student with ADHD to be eligible for special education services or is this only a Section 504 issue? This workshop will give your staff the legal information they need to know when presented with a student with ADHD.

BIPs & FBAP

Do BIPs and FBAPs only become an issue when a school district is attempting to discipline a special education student? Should every special education student have a BIP? This workshop will explore the who, what, when and how of behavioral intervention plans and functional behavioral assessment plans.

EVALUATIONS

Are re-evaluations still necessary under IDEA- 97? What if a parent won't consent to an evaluation? Must the evaluation review group hold a meeting? IDEA-97 made some significant changes in the area of evaluations. This workshop will make sure you know the law.

ESY

While the requirement to provide extended school year (ESY) services to students who require such services in order to receive FAPE is not new, its inclusion in the final IDEA-97 regulations has got school districts taking notice. At this workshop, you will learn about ESY, what it and what it isn't, who's eligible for ESY and how to provide it when a student requires it.
